A cultural treasure to be protected and preserved for future generations. Here you will find the Gammelgården museum, the Visningsstugan, the Kyrkstadscafe in St. Mary's House and Öjeby Church. Guides are available in the area during the summer.
Legend has it that the first wooden church in Piteå parish was located on the market square in the church village located in Långnäs. The market square and its buildings were abandoned in the 15th century when the trading post was moved and a new church in Öjebyn was built.
The first stage of the church is believed to have been completed at the end of the 15th century. The original church was built as a nave church with a nave, free-standing bell tower and gate surrounded by a courtyard wall. The church was expanded into a cross church in the 18th century.
Öjeby church town is a famous medieval trading post that laid the foundation for the city of Piteå in 1621. The church town is one of the country's largest church towns with living church town traditions.
In the church town there is the Church Town Café, formerly the Church Town Museum, with a café and the St. Mary's business. The Old Farm which houses our summer museum and the viewing hut, church cottage no. 28 from 1804 which is open in the summer.
